But little does she know the fate that awaits her on the surface of the red planet or the results of her encounter when she gets back to Earth.

The official description leaves too much to the imagination so anything I tell you will be spoilery. Easy fun read. Reminded me of a cheap made for tv sifi movie. After about 35% of the way through it started getting very predictable and I suck at predicting novels. You're basically following a rather seemingly immature acting female astronaut from Earth to Mars and back with some strange events happening that changes her life forever. Not any hard core SciFi ideas but they are fun for what they are.Product details

This review is for the edition ebook.
Disclosure I was given my copy of this book by the author as a review copy.
An astronaut is waiting for her chance to go to the moon. Instead, she finds herself going to Mars. Something goes wonderfully, horribly wrong on the surface of Mars, and her life changes in ways that no one could ever predict.
I liked this book. It was fun to read, and had enough unexpected turns to keep me interested. The story starts with a believable chapter in the life of a female astronaut. Once she is chosen for the Mars trip, she is ecstatic. This trip takes a long time, and upon her return, many strange things start happening. The United States government, the FBI, the CIA, a large corporation, and several others take part in this story. I was not ready for this story to end when it did.
This book is very entertaining. It will grab hold of you, and keep poking at you to finish it.
I would recommend this story to science fiction readers that enjoy something a little different. This will not give you the highs of the shoot-em-up in outer space. It takes place place on earth, for the most part. It could be a real story and has enough elements be good fiction. I look forward to reading more by this author.
This was a fun, but not always believable story, about a woman astronaut, Brooke Jones, who travels to Mars and causes the authorities a lot of hassle when she returns back to Earth. The president, the FBI, and a large company, all make their appearance. While I usually don't enjoy stories where they do, in this case, I didn't mind as the story focused more on Brooke than on them.
The story of Brooke was intriguing (if probably not scientifically possible) and I wanted to know more about her. I was keen for her to stay out of reach of the several authorities that were after her. She was a strong woman, which I always like to read about.
The writing wasn't always strong - especially the dialogues were sometimes a little stilted. For instance, people would give each other information that they should know already (for instance, because they live together, like Brooke and her boyfriend), and the information was obviously only given so the reader would understand what was going on. Also, I didn't like how sometimes months or years could pass from one paragraph to the next, without there being much change in the characters or their lives (an exception being Brooke's boyfriend).
But overall, I found this story very entertaining, and when I wasn't reading, I was looking forward to pick up the e-reader again to continue.
I thought this was an enjoyable science fiction read with an interesting premise. Brooke Jones has been chomping at the bit to get her chance to go into space. Always, it seems others are selected as she is passed over, but finally, her opportunity arrives, and off to Mars she goes. It is while she is exploring the surface of the planet that something decidedly strange happens, and she almost dies. After that, the crew returns to Earth. Brooke surprises everyone because she suffers none of the debilitating physical symptoms that plague her fellow crewmates. Brooke causes a political stir, and suddenly she is on the run from several different groups who want her for their own various nefarious agendas.
I thought Brooke was a likable, if somewhat immature, character. She contends with the escalating effects of her condition with occasional humor and unmitigated gutsiness. I felt her relationship with her boyfriend often felt stiff and somewhat awkward. I had a hard time connecting with the pair as a committed couple. Both are top-notch astronauts, so maybe it was their rivalry in their professional lives that cooled my ardor for them as a couple. While not particularly keen on the mild romantic elements of this book, I loved the uniqueness of the story and the high-caliber action scenes. The adventure and the sense of awe kept me reading late into wee hours. I was sad when the story ended, but I thought the resolution was appropriate. I hope there is another book in the works so we can continue to follow Brooke's escapades.
This book was given to me by the author in exchange for my honest review.

GOODNESS, YOU HAVE TO READ THIS AMAZING BOOK!! I was caught up in poor Lt. Brooke Jones's plight. At fort-two ans single she was passed over again and again for NASA's missions. Her boyfriend had many more missions than she and she wondered if they were gender favored. One day, she got word that she was FINALLY going to Mars and she couldn't contain her joy! Back on Earth six months later she discovers that all was not what it seems. Corruption at the highest level and the public's fear of her and what she could do had her kidnapped and good men murdered just for greed!
Full Disclosure I was given a copy of this book by the author to review.
While it's not destined to be a classic, The Infinite Within is a nice escape from reality. The plot is well thought out, albeit a bit predictable, the book is cohesive and well written (2 spelling errors that an editor would have caught). There was plenty of action and intrigue and the author didn't try to dazzle us with his intelligence or knowledge by adding complicated, incomprehensible fantastical science. I would have preferred Brooke Jones, the main character, to be a bit more thoughtful and mature and not as impulsive as she was so more character development would have been helpful. But all in all, it was a good, easy, fun read.
